Urban Kiz is a relatively new dance style having its roots from Kizomba. It started as an introduction of Kizomba to European countries as Portugal, France, Spain, and the Netherlands. The dancers started adapting Kizomba steps to music genres such as Ghetto Zouk, R&B, Hip-Hop, Afrobeat. Curtis Seldon is the creator of this dance style. It started in 2012 and was called New Style Kizomba or French Style Kizomba. But Curtis didn’t like the name French Style. After 3 years, in 2015, Curtis and two other French dancers of this new dance, Enah and Moun, decided to rename it as Urban Kiz.

NOTE: It is important to mention that Urban Kiz is not a music genre but only a dance style, whilst Kizomba is both a dance style and a music genre.
